It looks good on anyone. It works for every occasion. No woman’s wardrobe is complete without it. Beautiful silver jewelry is the little black dress of accessories. Here are three easy ways to work this complement into your look. And no silver sparkles better than sterling silver…
“Beautiful silver jewelry is the little black dress of accessories”
Cuff It: Silver Bracelets
Cuff bracelets can hang loose or sit tight. Opt for a thin intricate design for understated elegance. Choose a wider piece of arm candy like our Karma Silver Cuff to balance floral prints and gauzy boho dresses. Or go all out and stack with other silver bracelets and bangles.

Whether wearing your off-duty uniform or a cocktail dress, adorn your neck with a sterling silver necklace for an elegant finish. A beautiful handcrafted chain is an easy way to accessorize T-shirts. They’re great for layering and pendants too. A unique silver piece like our Merpati Silver Necklace adds instant allure to a button-up shirt.

20 May 2017Discover the Village of Celuk, home of the Balinese Silversmiths
Amongst the strikingly beautiful rice paddies and luscious green jungle of south Bali lies the small village of Celuk. Up until 1970 there were few people outside of Bali who knew of this village, as it was just another pretty village with a big focus on agriculture and an ancestry of the Pande Clan. By 1976, that had all changed. Celuk is located in the Sukawati District between Bali’s capital of Denpasar and the cultural heart of Bali; Ubud.
“Celuk has been producing handcrafted silver jewellery for over a century.”

Whilst Celuk has been producing handcrafted silver jewellery for over century, originally serving the royal families, the 1970’s represented a significant decade for Celuk, with almost the entire town’s people switching from agriculture to silversmithing. Gold and silver flooded into the town from all over Bali and Indonesia to be fashioned into beautifully handcrafted jewellery by the local artisans who proved to be very skilled. Sounds of iron meeting gold and silver, coming out of workshops, can be heard all year round as the artisans are hard at work shaping their next piece.
Jewellery silversmithing has not only put the small village of Celuk on the map, but also given both the town and the whole island of Bali a big boost to its local economy. It has provided hundreds of jobs to the local community who may otherwise face unemployment, and given Bali a new prosperous industry outside of tourism. Nusa values this way of life and seeks to encourage the local economy to flourish and allowing this traditional art of silversmithing to be handed down from generation to generation.
From necklaces and bracelets, to earrings and pendants, Nusa brings you the finest quality artisanal silver jewellery handcrafted in Bali.

05 Jan 2017Nusa: Evolution of a Brand
IKTOMI was asked to develop a brand strategy and integrated visual identity that would embody the heritage of the island without being tribal-clichéd, and with a fresh and sophisticated outlook. We shaped all aspects of the brand, including premium packaging experiences and the e-commerce website.
“Nusa is a new voice in the world of artisanal jewellery.”

An ode to the ocean and the Balinese heritage
Our objective was to create a vibrant yet elegant identity expression exuding the connection that the brand has with the local Balinese culture and heritage.
We took inspiration from the traditional Balinese jewellery and created a logo based on silver dots, very common elements on the Balinese jewellery designs. The logo is ultimately an ode to the splendour of the Balinese ocean.
The identity is based on a layered combination of few elements: a deep blue sea texture reminiscent of the ocean and a basic black and white color palette combined with silver finishings. This combination results in a decidedly contemporary and sophisticated identity, yet enticing in its simplicity and natural feel.

05 Jan 2017Handcrafted Silver Jewelry Emerging from the Bali Jungle
Nusa takes its inspiration from the beautiful natural surroundings of the island of Bali. All the pieces are meticulously handcrafted by Balinese silversmiths from locally sourced materials. Each design is limited in numbers due to the time and precision that goes into designing and crafting each piece by hand. Nusa is dedicated to having all of its silver jewelry pieces sourced and crafted in Bali, ensuring that local economies may flourish and thrive.
Michael has been traveling to Bali for over 20 years, and 4 years ago discovered the peaceful property hidden deep in Monkey Forest that would later become the Nusa headquarters. Teresa, always eager to discover new parts of the world and experience new cultures, took her first trip to Bali two years ago where she quickly fell in love with the island.
“Bali has served as a constant source of design inspiration.”

With a combined fascination and adoration of the beautiful local jewelry, they both soon decided to share their findings with the rest of the world. In December 2014 they took their first samples back to London and by 2015 they had both traveled to Bali to meet the talented local silversmiths who are responsible for creating the beautiful jewelry available today.
Bali has served as a constant source of inspiration for each piece that is designed.
The beautiful natural curvature of the cliffs and mountains, as well as the incredibly deep hues of the jungle and sea make their way into every piece. All Nusa jewelry are intrinsically Balinese – from its designs; sourcing of material; using only local craftsmanship and knowledge that has been handed down from generation to generation.

18 Nov 20163 Beautiful Bali Locations that Inspire Nusa
After almost a decade of traveling around Bali and exploring some incredible locations, we wanted share with you some of the most stunning locations that have helped mould and shape our handmade collections into what you see today.
So without any further ado, here are 3 beautiful Bali locations that inspire our silver jewellery.
“There is no better source of inspiration.”

Blue Point Beach, Uluwatu
At the very tip of Bali’s Uluwatu is the hidden cove of Blue Point Beach. This incredible beach is most well known for the amazing surfing conditions it produces all year round. Lesser known is the beautiful intertwining cliff face that leads to the beach front, cutting a natural sand path to the launch pad for surfers.
The natural flowing lines that form this cove have always provided a special source of inspiration for our more intricate pieces. If you’re lucky enough to make it to Blue Point Beach, treat yourself to lunch at Single Fin located on the cliff side above the cove, and experience it for yourself!
Nusa Dua
Located 22 km from Bali’s capital Denpasar is the beautiful Nusa Dua, which literally translates to “Two Islands”. If you have been fortunate enough to have visited Nusa Dua you may have noticed the artificial islands protruding from the beach with simple Balinese wooden huts sitting at each island’s end.
The soft curvature of these islands alongside the azure blue sea make for a beautiful scene and have no doubt helped inspire the soft rounded edges featuring in many of our designs. As well as providing inspiration to our silver jewellery collection, the artificial islands also provide a great place to relax in the shade and sketch out some designs for our next collection.
Tegenungan Waterfall
Tegenungan Waterfall, situated 20 minutes south of Ubud or 1 hour north of Seminyak, is one of our favourite spots in Bali and by far one of the most spectacular scenes that Bali has to offer. This 20 meter high waterfall is accessed through a short and steep path winding down the hillside and river, providing a beautiful entryway to a site you won’t forget.
If you haven’t yet had the chance to visit these three beautiful Bali locations then we highly recommend you do! Who knows, you might discover some inspiration of your own! If there’s a particular location in Bali that has inspired you which we haven’t mentioned, please join us on our Facebook page and share it with us!
